WR 16 Modifications
« on: July 17, 2017, 05:57:18 PM »
Hello: we have a WR 16 with alumimum 24 ft mast, new sail and windshield. What is any modifications if any would you suggest to enhance the boat. We sail on a fairly small lake with winds generally in the 6-15 mph range. I am going to try to rig up hand rudder lines or a hand tiller system. I do notice that the boat cannot go near as close to the wind as my neighbours hobie wave.  Also if really reef on the sail to tighten it, it loses its pocket and gets a big crease through it. btw, we are fairly new to sailing.  thx for any and all suggestions.  greg

I'd add a basic boom vang (a line from the main sheet block mount to a shackle mounted on the boom). Very useful to control the boom when going downwind. Also, these two: Hand Rudder Control & Auto Center Steering

Very simple mods.
